Call it what you will, (my wife does have a name for it) a mind that never stops looking for alternatives, a passion about building the next successful business, helping fellow entrepreneurs define and create their version of success or just an overwhelming desire to develop and test a constant flow of new ideas…these are the things that motivate me.
I’ve been leading customer-focused organizations since I was 18 (a while now). In each position, I have been responsible for team member orientation and education as well as motivating folks to provide high levels of customer service in demanding, fast-paced, people-focused environments.
I’ve got a crazy and diverse work history beginning with a stint as a student news broadcaster, TV cameraman and on-air disc jockey in college. After that came positions as unit managers for two large national food service corporations, and just for diversity, I spent 4 ½ years in prison…as a Corrections Officer, medic and trainer for the Connecticut Department of Corrections where I worked in a maximum security facility.
I’ve also spent 31 years in emergency medicine serving in a variety of roles including General Manager of a large private ambulance service that experienced 418% profitable growth in a four year period and the Emergency Medical Services Coordinator at one of Connecticut’s busiest hospital Emergency Departments.
I had the responsibility of developing and maintaining relationships with more than 35 area response agencies as well as the implementation of a regional paramedic response service providing advanced level patient care to 11 municipalities. This unique non-profit agency has successfully integrated paid and volunteer staff and has been a model for many similar agencies around the country.
In 1988 I originally founded Holdsworth & Associates, Inc. [now Holdsworth, Pelton & Associates] a consulting practice that has grew into a multi-million dollar business working with healthcare and emergency service clients across the country and internationally.
As a coach/consultant, I’ve also had the privilege to work with a wide variety of other organizations all across the country. My work has touched more than 810 organizations working with them in the areas of strategic business planning, entrepreneurship, leadership, marketing effectiveness, teambuilding, putting family first and the process of turning new customers into long term clients.
I still get to work periodically as a volunteer paramedic serving with the hospital based program that I helped to develop.
I’ve been honored to be able to present sessions to numerous regional, state and national conference audiences, including the INC. Magazine Customer Service Conference and I’m thankful to have been recognized as a biographee in Who’s Who in Healthcare and Who’s Who in the World.
